In our January 30th, 2012 blog post entitled The Quest for the Spicy Tuna Hand Roll Challenge, we announced an abrupt end to The Challenge due to a shortage in tuna.
We vowed to go on a quest to find the best way to maintain the integrity of The Challenge and preserve the reputation that Bushido earned, which put us on the Travel Channel’s Man Vs. Food television show.
We are pleased to announce that we have found a worthy replacement to The Spicy Tuna Hand Roll Challenge. We call it…
The Bushido Seppuku Challenge!
Seppuku is within the Bushido code of honor. Understanding the meaning of the word, Seppuku, it suits The Challenge very much as it pertains to suicide by disembowelment, which is exactly how Challengers feel after taking The Challenge!
We felt this to be the appropriate name change, to give honor to our existing Warriors and Legends. Plus, it does not limit us to just one type of ingredient because the new Challenge’s name doesn’t mention it. So in case there’s another ingredient shortage, we got that covered.
The End of the Warrior Path. Rules will remain the same except that the Warrior category will be ending by March 19th, 2012. After that day, there will be only one category: The Legends.
This means that if you were trying for Warrior status, you have until March 19th, 2012 to complete The Challenge. Each Challenger thereafter will have to finish all 10 rolls in one sitting and you will be called, a Legend of The Bushido Seppuku Challenge!!!
We already hear those stomachs of steel banging loudly in preparation for battle in the Bushido Seppuku Challenge!
We await your most honored feat!
Starts March 5, 2012. Official Rules.
[...] not gain legendary status, you have until Monday, March 19th to apply tuna rolls eaten toward the new handroll challenge. After March 19th, all challengers will be required to finish the challenge (all rolls 1-10) in one [...]

Congrats to the team at Bushido, for coming through with another Challenge which I’m sure will be another one worth featuring on television! We’re getting emails not just from around SC and the U.S., but from all the way down under too.
