[UPDATE] We’re happy to have Mark back, entertaining us with his music. Come see him live this Friday, April 20, 2012 for our Midnight Sushi. Starts 10pm.
Charleston resident, Mark Yampolsky, has released his debut album, Forty Mile Detour. The CD features four songs: Maybe Next Time, Nashville, Boots and Too Few Lucky Dice.
Yampolsky is a lifelong guitar player and music lover. Mark says;
I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old and formed my first band at 13. I’d always hoped for a career in music, but life took me down a different road. I’ve been practicing periodontics for over 20 years.
His day job, however, doesn’t stop Yampolsky from living his passion. On weekends, he plays guitar and performs original songs as well as popular cover tunes. He’ll be playing in West Ashley this Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at Charleston’s Bushido Japanese Restaurant for the Midnight Sushi event.
The journey to producing “Forty Mile Detour” involved many talented people. Yampolsky wrote the music and lyrics for all the songs. He also played guitar on the project. Yampolsky’s wife, Ellen, a gifted photographer, took the photos for the CD cover and for the website. The finished product is a compilation of commitment, talent and time.
Since its introduction, Forty Mile Detour has received positive comments from several individuals in the music industry:
Great lyrics… this music needs to be heard – Dick Asher, former President and CEO of Columbia and Polygram Records
…high-brow musicianship and song-crafting. – Patrick Davis, Nashville Singer/Songwriter
Sure to be a hit… – Jay Clifford, Lead Singer with Jump Little Children
Yampolsky hopes to take the rave reviews, to build on them and to write more songs in the future;
I am passionate about guitar and songwriting and hope to promote my lyrics and music to other artists to perform. Perhaps a second career as a songwriter is my next Forty Mile Detour.
